Zeebster Colasanti, CEO of Dream Seeker Estates Corporation has announced the establishment of the Philanthropic Society of Dream Seekers. The Fashion For Life event was such a roaring success that the Dream Seeker Estates Corporation decided that they should be involved in various other programs to further its charitable engagement in Second Life.  We talk to Roe Woodford, Director of Dream Seeker Productions, for a bit more information about this intriguing new venture.

Dream Seeker Productions, which under the leadership of Roe Woodford is responsible for the production of fashion shows and events in affiliation with the Dream Seeker Estates Corporation. Dream Seeker Productions will work closely with the Philanthropic Society of Dream Seekers and will leverage the exposure that the fashion shows produce and the generosity of the fashion community to generate charitable donations in support of the current fundraising activities of the Society.

After receiving the press release from Dream Seeker Estates Corporation about the new Philanthropic Society, I grabbed Roe via IM to ask her for a bit more information about the new venture. She tells us that the Dream Seeker Estates Corporation has entered an agreement with the American Cancer Society to officially become a corporate sponsor of Relay for Life in Second Life. “I personally have not worked with a more generous corporation than Dream Seekers,” Roe says.

According to Roe, membership in the new Philanthropic Society will be “open to residents and friends of any of the corporation’s estates including Dream Seeker Estates, Costa Rica Sims and Rockhopper Estates.” The decision to launch the new organization was a “decision made collectively by the Dream Seeker Corporation members” and the membership and activities of the Society will be coordinated by Harper Beresford (who was recently the lead organizer for the highly successful 2012 Fashion for Life fair).

In addition to their normal load of producing fabulous fashion shows for the best designers in Second Life, Dream Seekers Productions will also feature charitable fashion shows for Relay for Life, Roe says. Designers who wish to participate in such productions do not have to have a store on a Dream Seekers Estates Corporation sim. “All designers are welcome,” Roe tells us, and can contact her “inworld or at roewoodford@costaricasims for more information.”

We asked Roe how it personally made her feel to be involved in the creation of such a Philanthropic Society to help raise funds and awareness for great causes such as Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.  “Cancer is something that is very close to me and haunts me on a daily basis. Numerous people in my life have been affected by cancer,” Roe says. “Some have lost their fight but others have fought hard to stay alive. I am taking these experiences to further my strength in the cause to fight and conquer this disease.”

Another way in which Dream Seeker Estates Corporation plans to contribute to the cause of the American Cancer Society is to expand the company’s long running referral commission program to directly benefit Relay for Life in Second Life. For every new rental where the resident mentions they heard about the estate through a Relay For Life team or event organized by a specific team, the corporation will donate the standard referral commission to that team.

Dream Seeker Estates Corporation also intends  to register the Philanthropic Society as a Relay For Life team and to engage its various communities through fundraising activities in support of medical research and natural disaster response.
